This captivating book has held me in its grasp until the very end. I love the many adjectives and the writings flow. With all the dangers and frightful encounters with Urgals and Shades, Eragon and his faithful dragon Sapphira set of to fight of the Empire and defend the Varden. As Eragon fights alongside Arya, an elven girl, and Murtagh, son of the evil Morzan, Eragon encounters the shade Durza witch he almost killed earlier in the book. As the Shade and Eragon fight and Eragon takes Durza's memories, Eragon is slashed but succeeded in killing the shade with Arya's help. The Urgals and Kulls which seemed to be under Durza's control all begin to fight eachother and the Varden win the war. Eragon is quite wounded, but will heal. In the end Eragon hears a calling from far away which leads into the opening of the second book.
Science fiction writing had never interested me until now. The magically unbelievable characters and the creative skills required to write such a book intrigue me. This new genre has caught my interest and I will read more and more. The end of this book was such a cliff hanger that I may read the next book in the Eragon series. I am very glad I took the chance of reading this book.

ReplyDeleteI'm so glad you enjoyed it. I have to say that I can't seem to get into this genre either, but now that you ventured in, maybe I will follow your lead. I'm pretty sure you are reading The Pact right now. This was my second Jodi Piccoult book & I really loved it. I hope you like it as much as I did. If you get hooked, I've got plenty of her books :). Have you read anything by her before? Let me know.
I understand how science fiction is a genre that you are not to fanatical about. I'm exactly the same. The science fiction books I enjoy are the ones that make me feel part of the story. The science fiction books that gives out to much scientifical information are the books that most adolscents find boring. A great science fiction book was the City Of Ember. The bad scientifical fiction book is The Giver
ReplyDeleteI understand how you felt about this book, I also felt the same way. I read this book last summer and loved every minute of it. The book is very detailed and I fell into a world that doesn't really exist, which made me both excited and sad at the same time. It made me sad because I reminded myself when I closed the book that there will never be dragons on this earth, but it is still fun to read about it. Just to warn you however, the second book is a little slow. I am halfway through, but I took a break because it was getting boring at times.
ReplyDeleteI think its great that you unexpectedly liked this book. I know that I don't really like books like books in that genre. I think that book sounds complicated though but i think I've seen that movie. It also sounds like another book that I read that sounds similar.
ReplyDeleteI really liked how you picked this book because it is different. I personally would be kind of hesitant to read this before you told me how great it is. I hope this book gets you to read more books from a different genre then you are used to!
ReplyDeleteI've read the book Eragon and seen the movie, this is a good book that you explained it very well. Right now I'm also reading a book, the Hobbit which is a very similar book, the Hobbit has gotten me interested in Science fiction, because the author is free to do what they want with the story.
