I have recently started this book so I'm not that far into it, but I can already tell I am really going to enjoy this one. It starts of with a nervous college student flying on a plane with thousand of dollars cash strapped all over him. He is quite anxious to get this ordeal over with. We then find out that this whole process is about a selective group of the brightest MIT students who have decided to beat the game of blackjack.
These students have slowly been taking millions from vegas working as a group, and so far have been successful. With different body language and certain gestures these students can have full conversations and relay the 'count' to other members of the team near by. The count is the number of high cards likely to show up in the deck the more high cards, the bigger bets you place. So in the end, all they are hoping for some big wins. These college kids seem to have beaten the game of blackjack, but will it come at a price?
I never knew this was a book, I only thought it was a movie! The book sounds really interesting! When. I first saw the movie I was confused as what "counting cards" really meant but I'm glad you explained it. Since we usually like the same books, I will probably read this soon! Good job with your blog!
ReplyDeleteBri bri you could totally be one of those people that writes the summary of the story on the back of the book. This book sounds really interesting and it's cool that they can have complete conversations just by using body language and signals.
ReplyDeleteI saw the movie for this! It was so good so I'm not surprised that it was a great book. I like how you gave a little summary instead of just saying it was good or bad, nice blog and I like your background!
ReplyDeleteThis book seems so interesting! I always wished I could learn a secret language that no one else knew. It seemsmlike these kids should be used for something more useful, like as part of the FBI. Why are these kids so interested in beating blackjack? And if the main character from the beginning is in on the plan, why is he so nervous?
ReplyDeleteThis book seems really good!! I think I actually saw this movie and it was a very interesting movie. Since the movie was really good, the book must be even better; it is just a given that the books are always better than the movie. I may need to look into this one.
ReplyDeleteI like how you left of the end off the blog with some suspense of what is to come next. The book sounds really good, I'm sure the ending will be great.
